New Year's

We returned to Westport drenched and decided….instead of hacking it out in the pouring rain in a small car, nowhere to stay, and nothing major left to do….to just head home.  And that we did.  We drove through a different pass, down through Christchurch and back home to Geraldine.  We spent a quiet and tranquil New Years at home, much needed after a long and busy week on the west coast.  For New Year’s Eve we went to the Geraldine theater (an experience all in itself where you can put your feet up while lying on a couch) to see the Muppet Movie (cute), played games, worked in our fast producing garden by harvesting flowers, strawberries and raspberries, and ate tons of appetizers for dinner.  We turned some Latino music and counted down until 12, then danced for a while, drank tons of sparkling grape juice, and went outside to see the stars.  Beautiful and quiet.  Lovely.  New Years was spent relaxing in the house and in the garden picking raspberries (of course) and Christmas Lilies (Easter Lilies in the States).  What a wonderful start to the New Year!  2012 here we come!

Harvest time!

Trying to look at stars even though I'm blinding everyone with flash - Jonathan and Ethan look drunk! :)  Ethan's special treat: Angry Birds after midnight.
