When Jonathan and I traveled through Italy before we had children, this particular painting of the "sacred family" in a museum in Florence touched me. I must have stood in front of this painting for at least 15-20 minutes admiring the painter's attention to detail, they manner in which he captured innocence, the
incredible bond between mother and son, and Joseph's admiration of that bond. It still touches me every time I look at it. May we all look to the real 'reason for the season' (Christ's birth, of course) and reflect upon the wonderful blessing it may have been to be the mother of the Son of God.
