Simply Peachy

The town of Palisade (just outside of Grand Junction) is known nation-wide for it's peaches, so what a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than at the annual Palisade Peach Festival.

We began the morning watching the local Peach Parade. Local marching bands, free candy, the Town Grouch waving to the crowd, random people riding a tractor; what more could you ask for?

Ethan obviously loved his first parade!

The festival itself was hoppin'! The best part about it was the world's most AMAZING ear of corn we have ever tasted! Sweet and salty, grilled slowly, plump and juicy kernels, yummy! We tried peach ice cream, peach fudge and peach jams. We had a blast! We ended the afternoon driving up the hill to some local peach orchards. We found a u-pick orchard selling peaches for $1.00/lb. We grabbed a bucket and picked 7 lbs. The owners encouraged us to eat a few while we were out there, so we did just that. I tell you what - the juice that runs down your neck after biting down on that soft, sweet flesh is amazing! Georgia, your peaches are getting a run for the money!
