Owl Creek Pass is one of our favorite spots to camp, seeing as how we are so close by. This is area is where the original True Grit was filmed with John Wayne, they even have a True Grit Cafe in town (where the hangings and other in-town scenes were filmed - just 15-20 minutes from Montrose). This area is gorgeous! The jagged peaks are very unique, as is the famous courthouse mountain (aka Snaggle Tooth Rock). We love being in these mountains, our home.
It was a wet camping trip, but still fun! The angry and horny bull that passed by our rugged campsite early one morning was scary. It sounded like an angry bear and we made sure to be very quiet in our tent, since they are more dangerous than bears hands down.
