Buena Vista

We have been in Buena Vista, CO now for the past month while Jonathan has been on a rural rotation out here. It is literally in the middle of the Colorado Rockies. Situated in the midst of the Collegiate Peaks (14ers with names such as Mt. Princeton, Mt. Yale, Mt. Harvard and Mt. Columbia), there is more than enough to do within a few miles form our doorstep. We hiked, camped, swam in hot springs, visited ghost towns, summited a 14er, toured a cavern, toured a dinosaur museum, hiked up sand dunes, went on bike rides and runs, etc. My parents and little sister came to visit us for a week out here and my little brother and his wife came out for an extended weekend. They can testify to the beauty that Colorado has to offer. Our only regret is that we have to leave in 2 days. We don't want to return to being responsible adults again, darn it. Can we keep playing, please?

St. Elmo, a nearby ghost town, arguably the most well-preserved in the US. What an incredible story in such a breath-taking setting. Feeding the chipmunks was definitely a highlight for the kids.

Camping with my parents, Cassi, Matt, Loral and our family (of course). These shots were taken in the chilly morning. We were trying to warm up while Jonathan, my dad, Matt and Loral hiked Mt. Harvard (a 14er). This was Cassi's first camping experience. We all had a great time!

We took a cog railway, the longest in the world, to the top of Pike's Peak (a 14er - 14,100 ft.) Yes, it snowed a little when we reached the summit. This was Ethan's 2nd time up there, but Noah's first. Other than being a little light headed up there, is was spectacular!

Cave of the Winds caverns just outside Colorado Springs. It is by for the largest caverns we have been in thus far.

Jeni-What kind of camera do you have? It takes great pictures - or maybe it's the photographer...
