We stayed in quaint hotel a block down from main street (well the town is only4-5 blocks wide) and just took it easy. We bought the boys a few toys from the local toy store (when I forgot a bag of groceries there she offered to drop them by the hotel bc her mom works there), ate at a local pub, and soaked in the Ouray natural hot springs at night. When the boys went to sleep that night we snuck out and went hot tubbing for 25 minutes or so while it was snowing. There is nothing quite like sitting in a warm bubbly hot tub watching the snowflakes that fall on your nose and eyelashes...truly the best part of our trip. We both looked at each other while in the tub and said, "we need one of these!" Maybe when he gets out of residency.
The next morning, after an amazing breakfast the hotel provided, we headed for Box Canyon Falls (a few blocks away) to watch some world class ice climbing. What an incredible sport we will have to try next! They even let 3 year olds try it out.

We then got back in the car and headed to Telluride (a ritzy ski resort that even Oprah and Tom Cruise have homes near). Most men I saw looked like they were soap opera stars (or maybe it was because Gay Ski Week was going on). This is truly our favorite ski resort town to wander through. It's not as touristy bc it's far from Denver and has a free Gondola ride all year round to an adjacent ski town, Mountain Village. Last time we were there was last summer while I was prego with Noah watching the mountain bikers go down the slopes. It was nice to actually be there in the winter this time around. We had a blast! It snowed hard the whole time we wandered around so the kids slept for a few hours when we got back in the car for our treacherous ride home.
We sure had a wonderful time....exactly what we needed. Thanks Ouray, Telluride and Mountain Village! You'll be seeing us again soon!
