On our way back to Gerladine we were able to indulge in the beauties of this amazing country, once again. After passing Abel Tasman (sniff, sniff) we drove through the Nelson region, famous for its artistic flare, orchards, and sunny weather (the most sunshine in all of NZ). We saw kiwi trees for the first time and marveled at how clever their pruning techniques were. We did happen to stop a few times to grab some produce off the side of the road, of course. Yummy!
Every hour of driving seems to lend itself to a completely different scenery, climate and atmosphere. This trip was no exception. Marlborough Sounds - this is the Gateway to the north island and taking the ferry across was an unforgettable experience (later post to follow). It reminded me of the Pugeot Sound, but more beautiful with the ferns and incredible colored water.

| Green-lipped mussels....yummy! This area is famous for them. |

| There are so many untouched nooks and crannies with amazing beaches - sure would be nice if we knew a little about sailing! |
