A Planting We Will Go!

Yes, it's that time of the year again - planting season.  It has not been nearly as taxing as last year's planting, seeing as how we just came from harvest season in New Zealand.  This year we have planted (or have come back from last year's crop) carrots, lettuce, spinach, beets, tomatoes, onions, strawberries, marigolds, lemon mint, peppermint, lavender, basil, cilantro, parsley, rosemary, thyme, oregano, spaghetti and summers squashes, pumpkins (tons grew back from last year's scattered seeds), cucumbers, corn, and bell peppers.  We have a little more room in the back garden area so we may add some more plants if they go on sale.  As of now we are already harvesting spinach, lettuce and herbs.  It sure feels great to have and take care of a garden.  We don't have irrigation water rights in this place we are renting so watering is not cheap during the summer, but it's well worth it to show our kids how to grow your own food and to have delicious organic produce at our fingertips.  Yummy!
