And so it begins.....

Ethan started kindergarten in August and he had been waiting for this moment for the past three years (no joke).  He attended kindergarten in New Zealand (their version of preschool) and could hardly contain himself as he awaited the blessed day of going to school in Montrose.  He LOVES school, despite the subdued school photo.  I take full responsibility for the odd look on his face since the whole morning I was coaching him on his smile  (me: "make sure show a real smile...no that's way too big...now that looks fake...don't show too much teeth...think of something funny...show some teeth...ok, think of someone tooting...make sure and not laugh that hard, just smile...").  As I dropped him off at school I just hoped he wouldn't be so confused that it would come across on his expression...oops.  :)  To my surprise his teacher said in the 2 months he's been in school he is one of the most respectful, obedient and hard working students in her class.  Was this my Ethan she was referring to?  The same Ethan that will most likely cause me to have a heart-attack before he turns 14?  Could there have been some mistake?  This challenges me to look at him with different colored glasses.  He is a good kid despite the time outs caused by sneaking scissors into his room.  He is a great brother despite the fighting over cars and super heroes.  He is a sweet son despite his occasional melt-downs and outbursts.  Ethan is a good kid and we are so lucky to be blessed by him in our home!
